FAVORITE PHOTO FRIDAY: Backstage Baby

A huge part of my LOUniverse involves directing children's theater. Last season we were able to produce two of my favorite shows, NARNIA and PETER PAN. I'm a little homesick for the theater just now, having taken a hiatus to write the sequel to BY THE GRACE OF TODD. This is a picture of my graceful eldest daughter as the White Stag and my darling grandson (wearing Mrs. Beaver's hat. :)

How about you? Any wonderful theater memories you'd like to share? Favorite productions?

Bookin' It

Last night was "date night," and my husband and I went to our favorite Mediterranean restaurant which is conveniently close to a wonderful bookstore. Here I am with three new releases I've been wanting to get my little hands around. Well, as you can see, it was a bit of a balancing act!

From left to right: Sleeping Beauty's Daughters by Diane Zahler, The Surprise Attack of Jabba the Puppet: An Origami Yoda Book by Tom Angleberger, and The Fantastic Family Whipple by fellow Penguin/Razorbill author, Matthew Ward.

So, what are YOU reading? (And don't be snarky and say, "this blog." Zeesh.)

For the Love of Snow Monkeys

I just CANNOT quit looking at pictures of Japanese snow monkeys. They have to be the most expressive creatures on the planet. Todd and his best friend Duddy are obsessed with the anime series  Dragon Sensei, starring Koi Boy (half fish, half Koi) and his green snow monkey sidekick, Mongee-Poo. I know a custom puppet builder who is going to build some DS puppets for me to take to school visits, thus my obsession with these amazing critters.

Welcome to My LOUniverse!

Welcome to the official blog of Louise Galveston, author of BY THE GRACE OF TODD and mother of her own small (eleven at last count) civilization. I'd show you a picture of my kids, but their cuteness would probably blind you.

So instead, I'll give you a sneak peak of one of my favorite imaginary "children," Persephone. She's a John Wayne-inspired Toddlian and the only one of her race with the gumption to stand up to her "god," Todd.

That's Camo she's tamed and is riding. He's Todd's science class pet and in Todd's dubious care for a week. I think Persephone is my favorite character in the book. She's a real pistol!
